Fund raising for a new pool!
Most of you will be aware that our lovely swimming pool has sadly come to the end of its life. It was approximately 50 years old! I have always considered ourselves to be lucky to have our own pool and I think it is one of the greatest assets we have. I am very sad that it has been condemned.
I am sure you will agree with me that we must have a new swimming pool if we possibly can. It won’t be cheap, it could cost around £30,000 to £40,000! We won’t let that stop us though! Our PFSA are just as keen as I am to raise this if we can and have already come up with lots of fun ideas for fundraising. To give you a flavour of these ideas we will have sponsored events for the children, BBQ and Bingo night, a car/bike wash, afternoon tea with the choir and much more! We will also need to look into grants that may be available to help us along.
Although I am leaving at the end of this term, I am determined to get the ball rolling with this project and I hope that you will all feel the same. A new swimming pool for the children of the Duke of Bedford Primary School and its local community is essential. I look forward to being invited back to see the new pool in place!
You will shortly receive information about the first activities the PFSA will be organising. Mrs Woolley, Chair of the PFSA, has also suggested we have a large thermometer display to show how much we have raised which I think is a great idea!
If any of you have any thoughts on this please do let us know. This is a very big project and we need everyone’s involvement.
