Before and After School Club

The Duke of Bedford B & T Club (out of School provision) is run by the school and is based in the double mobile by our Pre-School.

We offer childcare provision from 7.45am to 8.40am each morning and from 3.20pm to 6pm each evening. Drop off and pick up will be at the B&T mobile.

Staff at the club:

Manager: Mrs K. Pinguenet (Headteacher)

Club leader: Mrs A Amey.

Staff: Miss D James

Fees per child:

Morning: £3.50

Afternoon: £7.50

Additional charge for late pick up (after 6pm): £5 for the first 10 minutes, followed by £1 per child per minute.

Our aims:

Mrs Amey and Miss James are experienced Teaching Assistants and have experience of out of school provision as well. They are enthusiastic and dedicated, and are committed to a happy, safe, warm, friendly and stimulating environment for all the children to play, learn and develop freely. In the same way as school, our aim is to help all children in our care develop their confidence and self-esteem, encouraging positive attitudes and respect for themselves and others. We aim to promote the positive relationships and to work in partnership with parents, carers and their families by regular consultation and discussion, and by informing them of our policies and procedures.

Activities:

A range of activities will be available for the children to choose from, which are aimed at encouraging developing confidence, creativity, independence, co-operation, enjoyment and social interaction. We aim to provide varied activities that are interesting, educational, stimulating and fun, promoting each child’s social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development, under safe and supervised conditions. Activities will take into account the different ages, interests, backgrounds and abilities of the children attending. Outdoor play will be encouraged daily at afternoon sessions.

Refreshments/snacks:

Breakfast will be provided at the morning session, consisting of a choice of cereal, toast and jam, milk and juice. Fresh, drinking water is available at all times. Healthy refreshments and drinks will be offered on arrival at the afternoon session. We also have tea-time, which is held from 4pm for those children who wish to bring their own snacks (in a named container please). Any tea containers brought to the club at the morning session can be stored in the fridge until required in the afternoon. If your child’s food needs microwaving please supply the time instructions.

Illness and medication:

Please do not send your child to the club if they are unwell or have an infectious illness. If your child suffers an infectious illness, please inform the club through the school. If your child is taken ill while at the club, you will be contacted and asked to collect your child. Staff may only administer medication which has been prescribed by a doctor 4 times a day (if a medication consent form has been filled in prior to this). Medication must be in its original container, and must clearly show the child’s name, the drug prescribed and the correct dosage to be given. When medication is administered, it will be witnessed, and signed by both members of staff and countersigned by the parent when collecting their child.

Complaints procedure:

This is the same as for the school. Should you have any concerns about the quality of childcare services provided, or if you are concerned that a child in the care of our providers may be at risk of abuse or neglect, you should report your concerns in writing to the Headteacher.

Any complaint will be investigated fully within 28 days of receiving the complaint. An account of the findings of the investigation, the outcomes and any action taken, or is to be taken, will be provided to the person who made the complaint.

Terms and conditions:

Once your child is offered a place this will continue until you give us notice. If you no longer wish for your child to attend we require one month’s notice. Please be aware that we reserve the right, if deemed necessary, to withdraw spaces with immediate effect at any time for failure to comply with any of the following:

Registration and payment of fees:

Child registration forms must be completed before a child can attend the club. Monthly fees are payable by Parentpay, cheque or via childcare voucher schemes at the school office.

Fees must be paid in advance, on or by the date shown on your invoice.

Collecting your child:

Please ensure you collect your child before the 6pm closing time. If you collect your child after this time you will be charged a penalty of £5 per child up to 6.10pm, and £1.00 per minute per child for every extra minute passed after this time, due to the extra staffing costs incurred.

Absences:

Please inform the club, through the school, if your child is going to be absent for any reason, either by phone or in person, with as much advanced notice as possible. Please be aware that you are paying for the space at the club so if your child cannot attend for any reason you will still be required to pay for the session. This is to ensure that the costs of running the club can still be met.

Treatment of staff:

All staff have the right to be treated with respect and work free from harassment, aggression or intimidation. Any such incidents occurring will result in the immediate withdrawal of your childcare space.

Behaviour:

If a child or adult uses inappropriate or unacceptable behaviour, e.g. by bullying, being rude, racist, shouting or displaying aggressive behaviour this will not be tolerated and will result after one warning, in the  withdrawal of your childcare space.
