School Curriculum information

Our Curriculum Vision Statement

At the Duke of Bedford Primary School, we aim to offer a structured and engaging school experience with a quality curriculum which inspires independent thinkers, innovators and problem solvers with teamwork at HEART of everything we do. We aim to provide children with the necessary support and challenges that will allow their learning journey to progress and create ambitious and resilient lifelong learners. Here, the children enjoy school, have the opportunity to develop friendships and become responsible, respectful young people. Our curriculum is relevant, diverse, thought-provoking, creative and soaked in memorable moments.

Phonics in Key Stage One:

We don't follow any specific scheme as we prefer to adapt the teaching to the needs of the children.. We use Letters and Sounds to guide our planning but dip into other resources as well. We use Oxford Reading Tree books although not exclusively.  We do use Project X in school as a scheme for extra support/reluctant readers.

Further details can be found in our  Prospectus.pdf and in our  Curriculum-Policy-June-2019.pdf.
